NEW UPDATES:

Watching Your Levels in Ableton!

A common thing that happens in the early days of using audio programmes is that you may neglect to look after your levels and the overall track may sound over recordedAbleton is surprisingly forgiving in this area but ther is no substitute for managing your levels and getting a good optimised signal flow.

These next two videos will help you to achieve this. Also your tracks should sound as loud as commercial tracks i.e. if yours was played on a radio station after a commercially released track you would not want it to sound quieter by comparison. These videos will also help you address these issues.

Watching Your Levels 1.... Adjusting the levels in relation to the all important Master fader.

Watching Your Levels 2.... Using a Limiter to do it dynamically.

This is the handout from the Introduction to Ableton Session where we looked at the interface but in particular the two main views i.e. the session view and arrangement views. In this session you learned 1. Why the session view is a very valuable feature in the package and 2. How to use it in conjunction with the more traditional timeline view (arrangement window). The workfiles for this session are also provided for you to experiment with.
