This is situated at the bottom of the document window and features the tag selector, the drop down Window size Drop-Down list, and the document Size and Download Time-field.
The Insert Bar:
This contains tools that allow you to add a wide variety of content to your pages. The default category is the Common Category which contains a number of buttons that allow you add various elements to web pages e.g. images, links, tables, rules and external objects such as Flash or Shockwave files.
The Properties inspector:
This is context sensitive – in other words it displays the properties of whatever object is selected i.e. If an image is selected it displays image related properties, if text is selected it displays text properties – font text size etc. This is one of the most used and useful windows in Dreamweaver and is common to all of the Macromedia products.
The Document Toolbar:
This contains useful buttons that allow you to toggle between different views e.g. you can view the HTML code, the design view or a split where both can be viewed at once (very useful).
Panels:
Almost any feature can be found in the numerous panel groups.
Preview in Browser:
On a PC the shortcut key for preview in Browser is F12 – this is a very useful shortcut. You will need to do this to check what your page will look like on the WWW and to test javascript functionality e.g. rollovers.
O’Reilly Reference:
If you click on the code view panel and then choose the Reference tag. This gives you access to the
O’Reilly Reference guide. You can get detailed information about each tag from here.
There are of course many more windows than mentioned here and I recommend you explore them as much as possible - familiarising yourself with shortcut keys will also help you a great deal in the longrun so starting using them now!
